A NELSON Bay woman's hard work to ensure the growth of her business has been recognised at a seminar in the United States.

Kim McGann from Blush Brides travelled to Dallas last year to attend a SHINE Conference, an event for women entrepreneurs, where she won $5000 after being announced as the winner of the business re-invention contest. The contest recognised a woman who stood out and involved recording a three minute video as well as submitting a written piece.

"I was chosen for my ability to stand out in the crowd in business, having achieved such success in such a young business, having passion and doing what it takes to learn grow, believe and become successful," she said. It tops off a successful year for the Bay business woman who was also announced as a finalist in two of the Australian Bridal Awards for best hair and best make up.
