Dark brews to warm the belly Brewery masterclass to be held on Saturday

30 Jun, 2010 12:00 AM
A BEER masterclass is taking place at Murray's Brewery concentrating on belly-warming dark brews.

The class is on Saturday coinciding with the brewery's release of its new Belgium inspired imperial stout The Heart of Darkness.

"In the classes we will look at brewing, what makes a good dark beer, what makes it look and taste different to an ale and where the flavour comes from in the recipe," head brewer Shawn Sherlock said.

This is the second masterclass held by the brewery targeting a mixed audience from avid beer drinkers to the less knowledgeable.

"We encourage the keen home brewers to come, beer lovers and just the public who want to know something about beer," he said.

Mr Sherlock said it was also a good opportunity for the brewery to get instant feedback with the masterclass students to be one of the first groups to taste the new stout.

The class kicks off at 3pm, bookings essential.
