RAYMOND Terrace's CBD looked like a bomb hit it, literally, this week as filming for the movie Tomorrow, When the War Began hit full steam.
Historic King Street was made to look as though it had been the site of a violent conflict as part of the storyline which centres around the invasion of Australia by a foreign force. There were burnt-out cars and debris across the road and later up Port Stephens Street.
Various streets around the town have been closed for filming over the past few weeks. Most of the closures have not have a huge effect on motorists as they occured at night and into the early hours of the morning.
Filming is due to finish on November 6 when a chase sequence is filmed in William and King Streets.
The main closures were in King, William, Port Stephens, Glenelg and Hunter streets.
A letter from assistant location manager Edward Donovan was given out to residents and businesses affected by the closures last week.
Mr Donovan thanked the town for welcoming the film cast and crew, saying they felt 'really supported'.
"Thank you for having us as a guest in your neighbourhood and thank you in anticipation of your support for this project. Our industry relies very heavily on the goodwill shown by those who host us in their areas," Mr Donovan said.
