First stage of complex open

04 Mar, 2010 12:00 AM
THE first wave of construction on the new Ferodale Sports Complex is almost complete just in time for the opening of this year's netball season.

Among the $790,000 worth of changes are four new netball courts complete with lighting and a new maintenance shed.

The courts were previously located at Yulong, but had to be moved due to their poor condition. Medowie netball will now move to the new Ferodale courts.

"The lights will allow Medowie to have a twilight netball competition," sports facilities coordinator Clayton Barr said.

There is hope Medowie netball will set up its own competition at the complex, with players currently competing in the Raymond Terrace competition.

"There is also a new nursery in the complex and it is my understanding it is for troubled youths to do hands-on work," he said.

The latest work is the first stage of a project to create a much larger sporting complex.
