Foster care for dogs in Port Stephens

08 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
A CALL has been made for all dog lovers who can provide a loving, secure home and food to animals in need to volunteer their time for a dog rescue group.

After growing up on a property surrounded by dogs, cats and horses it was a natural decision for Raymond Terrace resident Holly Moore to become a dog foster carer last year.

Working with the Newcastle Dog Rescue Newcastle Ms Moore along with her mother Caroline, from Brandy Hill, rescue dogs on death row and give them the time they need to find a new home.

"There is a home for almost every abandoned dog, rescue organisations give them the luxury of time to find their forever home," she said.

Ms Moore said the only quality someone had to have to be a carer was to be "a dog person".

"The great thing about fostering is you can foster your kind of dog," she said.

Anyone interested in helping out can contact Sue Barker on 0415 367 144 or Caroline Moore on 4988 6401 or log onto www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au.
