A FUND is to be established to help the family of Amber Compton, 29, of Fingal Bay who died last week.
Mrs Compton collapsed at her Fingal Bay home around 6.50 pm last Thursday. Despite repeated efforts by paramedics and later at Tomaree Hospital she failed to revive. A preliminary report suggests Mrs Compton, who was 28 weeks pregnant, died from heart complications.
Her funeral and that of the baby, now named Bodie, was held on Wednesday morning at the Port Stephens Uniting Church at Salamander Bay.
Mrs Compton is survived by her husband Shane and children Reece, Blake and Hope.
Her father Peter Sherriff said he could not believe the response from and generosity of the Port Stephens community.
"The genuine outpouring of grief from so many has helped us enormously," Mr Sherriff said.
He confirmed an appeal to aid the family was being organised and details would be available next week.
