Grants to boost enrolments in Port preschools

16 Jun, 2010 02:14 PM
A PUSH to see low-income families gain better access to early child care services has resulted in two Port preschools receiving a total of $49, 792 in funding from the state government.

KU Peninsula was given two separate payments of $27,748 and $11,425 to assist in programs that reduce the barriers between low-income families, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and early child education.

Seaham Preschool was also given $10,619 for the same program while Medowie Community Preschool will receive $25,000 to renovate its bathrooms.

Karen Dawson from KU Children's Services said the funding would go a long way to ensuring more children on the Tilligerry Peninsula received vital early education.
