Plane Crash Anna Bay

29 Apr, 2010 11:35 AM
A PILOT had a lucky escape when he made an emergency crash landing on Stockton beach five kilometres south of Anna Bay on Wednesday.

The pilot, Rick Harper, was forced to land when the windscreen of his plane imploded.

He was on route to Sydney from Taree when the accident happened at about 8.30am. The pilot escaped relatively unharmed with a face abrasion.

However, the plane suffered damage to its propeller, undercarriage and right wing.

The cause of the mishap is unknown.

Police, NSW Rural Fire Service and National Parks and Wildlife Service attended the crash site and removed the plane's fuel and wings.

It will be transported to Sydney where Mr Harper can assess the damage.
