Police arrest two years after Bay jeans shop robbery

POLICE have made a breakthrough with an arrest involving a break and enter at a Nelson Bay shop two years ago.

Using forensic evidence police have charged a 17-year-old Nelson Bay youth with break, enter and steal in relation to the theft of more than $10,000 worth of apparel from the Jean Shop premises on Magnus Street.

The shop was robbed in September, 2008.

The boy was arrested at a Galoola Street address on on March 4 and was due to appear in Broadmeadow Children's Court on March 9.

Meanwhile police have charged a man with mid-range drink driving following a random breath test at Raymond Terrace.

The Hinton man, 47, was stopped on William Bailey Drive at 3.50pm last Thursday.

He allegedly returning a positive blood-alcohol reading of 0.080.

The man is due to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on April 19.
