THE Port's crime manager Peter Fox has earned himself a reputation for dedication to solving murders that seem destined for the cold case files.
Now that dedication could earn him one of the police force's top honours.
Inspector Fox has been nominated for the Commissioner's Customer Service Officer of the Year award for his 12-year effort in bringing closure to the family of murder victims Susan, Andrew and Amy Park.
The Examiner reported in August this year Mr Fox's work in finding a suitable resting place for Susan and her children who were murdered by Nick Park in 1997.
It involved organising the cremation of the bodies and after consultation with the victims' family in China, a ceremony at Nan Tien Buddhist temple in Wollongong in which Inspector Fox and his wife participated.
Port Stephens LAC Commander Charles Haggett said the nomination was a well-deserved accolade.
"The award will be one of the most prestigious in the police force," Commander Haggett said.
"It would be great for him to win, you don't see many people commit themselves like he does to the victims of serious crime and this is just one example."
