Raymond Terrace Guides drive for recruits to mark centenary

24 Feb, 2010 09:59 AM
RAYMOND Terrace's Guides unit is on a recruitment drive as it gears up to celebrate the organisation's centenary.

"Girl Guides is something where the benefits are seen later on in life," division leader Carol Peterson said.

The Terrace Guides have operated in the town for more than 20 years and have eight juniors and five senior members.

"We are looking for a new district leader and for more recruits," she said.

According to Ms Peterson the Raymond Terrace guides were the strongest unit in the area a few years ago and were very community-minded

The goal for this year is to get back into the community and efforts began on Australia Day.

"The girls raised about $600 from their sherbet stall on the day which will help fund trips away," she said.

The group also has two new leaders, Casandra Johnson and Joanne Walker both of Raymond Terrace.
