Rotary's big Scottish night

28 Jul, 2010 09:00 AM
FOR one night Soldiers Point Bowling Club is to be transformed into the Scottish Highlands for a great big Ceilidh party.

The Ceilidh is on August 14, tickets are on sale until August 7 with money raised going to the Nelson Bay Roatary Club to support its mental health awareness forums.

According to organiser Lynn Jarman a Ceilidh is similar to a barn dance with Highland dancing, a big meal and a piper.

On the night there will be entertainment by The Moonshiners.

β€˜β€˜It is really good fun, just a big party with lots of dancing and music,’’ Ms Jarman said.

Rotary chose a Scottish style event in appreciation of its first Scottish president, John Cropley.

Highland dancer Bonnie Marshall will be performing on the night showing off her technique and completing a traditional warrior inspired dance involving two swords.

There will also be a large meal, haggis and the dress code is anything Scottish.
