Take a walk for Black Dog fund

01 Sep, 2010 01:00 AM
WORLD Suicide Prevention Day is being marked with a beachside walk at Nelson Bay.

The Port Stephens Suicide Prevention Network is running the walk on September 11 starting at 10am from Bagnalls Beach.

"The walk is to remember people that have died and make people aware of what the network is about," network president Bernie Fitzsimons said.

According to Mr Fitzsimons while there is little statistical data available suicide impacts all communities with one in 20 people contemplating suicide at some point of their life.

The walking is from the car park at Bagnalls Beach to Nelson Bay and return.
