PORT Stephens Veterans and Citizens Aged Care has passed a recent accreditation visit with flying colours after it achieved a top score for its Shoal Bay site.

The not-for-profit group which specialises in aged care living for the community was tested in January during a three-day visit and managed to come off with a perfect score of 44 from 44 outcomes. It caps of a successful four years for the group with both sites, Fingal Bay and Shoal Bay, both achieving the 44 mark twice now. CEO Lousie Watters was eager to congratulate all management and staff and the numerous volunteers who worked year-round to uphold the standards.

"Its really attributed to the staff," Ms Watters said.

Ms Watters said not only did the Shoal Bay site pass the outcome with flying colours the feedback for its quality improvement practices, medication safety and leisure and lifestyle activities were all considered "exceptional". All of the group's sites will continue to be subject to spot checks regularly at short notice.

"They just turn up on your doorstep," Ms Watters said.
