ART, entertainment and whaling is the focus of a fundraiser involving Raymond Terrace’s Youthie centre.
‘‘It is an opportunity for the community to come and support the young people of Raymond Terrace, enjoy themselves and see something pleasing to the eye,’’ assistant coordinator Kellie Mann said.
The March 5 event will be held at the Youthie on King Street.
Indigenous denim designs by special guest Lara Eardley will be on sale as well as art by Amber Jane Steirling.
‘‘We are also selling raffle tickets and are still looking for prizes,’’ she said.
Raymond Terrace Rotary has donated the sausages and rolls for the free barbecue and Raymond Terrace Tidy Towns has offered to clean up the garden for the event.
Local acts will be performing including Alexa Bright, 12, of Nelson Bay who will be singing her song Save the Whales.
Alexa’s song is currently being used as the Sea Shepherd’s theme song and she will donate some of the money from the sale of the song to the Youthie.
All money raised will buy equipment for the Youthie to run programs such as jewellery making and a healthy eating program.
‘‘The ultimate dream is to be able to open everyday of the week,’’ she said.
