'Warships' ready to do battle

25 Jan, 2012 01:00 AM
FAMILIES looking for something different to do following Australia Day can experience the drama of naval battles in miniature form at the Australian Motor Homes Tourist Park at 12 Mile Creek near Karuah.

Tomorrow and on Saturday 15 model warship enthusiasts from across NSW, Brisbane and Victoria will pit their war craft against each other in the pond.

Nathen Dalton from the Australian Association of Model Warship Combat Clubs said remote-controlled battleships, cruisers, small craft and merchant ships would all be on the water.

Park owner Tom Ford said the days would be great for families to witness the model warship battle and perhaps enjoy a picnic or barbeque in the grounds and try catch and release fishing or aqua golf. Admission is $5 for a family or the donation of two stuffed toys to add to the whimsical rainforest walk on the grounds.
