Codes rise to bowling challenge

05 Aug, 2009 01:44 PM
THE Inaugural Four Way Challenge got under way at Soldiers Point Bowling Club recently.

The challenge involved 16 players from four different codes, all vying for a championship trophy.

Organisations included in the challenge were the NSW Greenkeepers Association, the Australian Defence Force, NSW RSL Association and the NSW Police Bowling Club.

The challenge was held over three days last week, the main event being a test series with four teams of four players.

Other challenges in the tournament included a knock out pairs event.

Stand out players over the three days according to Soldiers Point bowls manager Chris Ramage, included local police bowling club member and Soldiers Point member John Gibson who was undefeated in the pairs competition and test series.

The boys in blue won the main event with 16 points, while runners-up NSW RSL Association almost claimed victory on 15.5 points.
