Raymond Terrace's success in challenge

28 Dec, 2011 12:00 AM
RAYMOND Terrace went one better in its bid to take out the 2011 NSW Clubs Challenge by not dropping a single rink throughout the tournament.

The Jets, who were without Australian international Natasha Van Eldik for the play-offs, beat Dubbo Railway in the mixed division final at Warilla earlier this month.

Raymond Terrace bowler Clay Parker played singles while Sarah Vesenjak and Ian Lean combined in the pairs and Kelly Richards, Pat Skinner, Jason Stokes and Lennon Scott joined forces in the fours.

Parker beat 31-5, while Lean and Vesenjak out-rolled their opponents by two, winning 14-12.

The fours team snuck home by three to claim a win 16-13.

Parker said the side gave itself the best opportunity by nominating for the mixed division, with the club going from strength to strength in both genders this year.
