AT 16-years of age Mindy Latimer has one of the most valuable arms in Australian women's baseball.
The Medowie school girl has realised her dream before most young adults have even discovered theirs, with selection in the Australian team to play at the IBAF Women's Baseball World Cup in Venezuela, from August 12-22.
The youngest member of the Australian team by almost two years, Mindy had already made herself known to Australian selectors by scoring a spot on the stand-by list in 2009.
But ensuring not to be overlooked a second time, the aspiring pitcher hurled the fastest rocket off the mound at the national titles in Queensland in April.
Mindy stopped the clock at 75 mph (120.7 km/h) while representing NSW Country at the event, which contributed to selectors singling her out for the all-important South America trip.
While the Hunter Sports High School student professes that "my goal all the time has been to play for Australia", she could be forgiven for peering even further into her bright baseball future.
Selection in the International All Stars team to be announced after the World Cup plays on her mind.
Beyond that a post-school career in the American big leagues beckons.
Mindy is currently fundraising to help follow her World Cup dream.
