Andrews retires

24 Mar, 2010 11:07 AM
FORMER Fern Bay resident and Australian fast bowler Sarah Andrews has retired.

Andrews made her announcement after helping Australia retain the Rose Bowl Trophy against New Zealand in Invercargill earlier this month.

Andrews made her international debut against India in 2006 and went on to play in the 2009 ICC Women's World Cup in Sydney, and the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup in England.

"I've been playing representative cricket for 10 years now and it's taken a lot of commitment," the 28-year-old said.

"Its time now to focus on other things in my life, like my career as a teacher."
