Arabians on show at Salt Ash

19 Aug, 2009 11:39 AM
SOME of the region's youngest horse lovers will get the chance to strut their stuff this month's Hunter Valley Arabian's spring show.

The annual event, held at the Salt Ash Sportsgrounds on August 30, will see the addition of the leading rein class for children aged three to eight years.

The category will be judged on presentation and manners of the pony.

This year's show has attracted 300 competitors across 25 different styles and breeds and brings people from the North Coast, New England, Sydney and the Hunter region into the Port.

Making a return this year will be the unofficial ring, which offers ribbons and prizes to encourage novice competitors. The feature ring will showcase eight of the registries held by the Australian Pony Stud Book Society.

Spectators are welcome to attend the show with entry at $5 per car or $2 per adult and $1 per child if walking through the gate. The action kicks off at 9am.
