BOBS Farm teenager Allix Jones has earnt her first national selection to represent Australia at the Junior European Endurance horseriding championships in this year.
The championships will see the 16-year-old travel to Switzerland to lease a horse and then onto Hungary for the September 7 competition.
Allix is one of six young Australians chosen to represent the country and just one of two from NSW.
"It's really exciting, I can't wait," Allix said.
With plans to be a professional rider, Allix hopes this competition will get her recognised on the world stage.
Having riden for the past decade, Allix has been doing endurance rides for the last seven years. Her biggest win has been at the 400 kilometre Shahzda ride at St Auburns in 2007.
The event in Balbona, Hungary, will see competitors and their steads tackle a 120-kilometre course.
But Allix and her family must bear the brunt of competing, which includes about $10,000 to lease a horse a cheaper option than flying one of the family's horses from Bobs Farm plus travel and accommodation costs.
In all, Allix estimates it will cost about $20,000 to take part in the competition and has appealed for sponsporship from the Port Stephens community.
