BAY Boardriders April contest was held in small clean conditions at Samurai.
The conditions suited the groms who made the most of the small swell to put in some strong performances.
In the Under 12's Zane Clifford took out the final ahead of Max McGaw. In the Under 14's Todd Edmond took the win ahead of Jye Astley, who backed up for a second in the Under 16 final, narrowly defeated by Oliver Troughton.
Troughton then went on to finish second behind Jessie Morgan in the Under 18 final.
In the Open's, a great result for Ryan Edmond who finished ahead of Dean Shaw in the final.
Shaw featured prominently in the Over 35's and Over 40's, with a win ahead of Rod Astley in the 35's Final and a second in the 40's behind Murray Smith.
The Over 50's final was won by Gary Moule ahead of Harry Royal.
The next club contest is on May 2, with everyone welcome. All starters to meet at Samurai track at 7am on the day.
The club will also hit the road during May for the club's annual getaway weekend, this year at Sandbar. For details contact Rod Astley on 0410 597503.
The Newcastle titles will be held at Dixon Park on May 8 and 9, with a strong contingent of Bay surfers heading down to Newcastle to compete, looking to secure a spot in State and eventually Nationals. We wish all the Bay's representatives the best of luck. On the world tour, the boys are in Brazil and are hoping for good waves after a less than exciting Bell's event.
Locally, the mornings have had a distinct winter flavour with the cooler westerlies starting to kick in. Water temp though is still great, potentially the only highlight with less than average banks on offer on the One Mile/Samurai stretch.
