Big loss for Blues

22 Jul, 2010 01:00 AM
THE Northern Blues Rugby League Club went up against the might of the high flying West Rosellas at Tomaree Sports Ground last Sunday.

The first half was evenly matched as the Blues dug in against the much bigger opponents.

Wests started strongly with two quick tries.

The Blues narrowed the margin to 14-12 at half time after Cameron Scully scored two quick tries from clever kicks by five eight Cameron Cooper.

In the second half it was all Wests.

With a glut of possession they embarked on a try scoring spree racing to 54-12 before the Blues narrowed the margin to 54-24 with tries to Jake Coxsedge and Heath Bassett with Cooper Scott adding the extras.

A late try to Wests took the score to 60-24.

Players' player and coaches award went to Jake Coxsedge while the supporters' club award went to Nathan Cooper.
