BIRUBI Surf Club awarded its third life membership to stalwart Mick Denahy recently.
Denahy was recognised at an annual presentation dinner for an enormous contribution throughout 13 years on the club's committee.
During that time he served as chief instructor, IRB captain, club captain, president and was also a patrolling member.
Denahy joins founding members Shirley O'Brien (Broadfoot) and Peter Broadfoot.
A host of annual club awards were handed out on the night, with Wayne Anderson picking up Club Person of the Year, Col Strauss winning Patrol Person of the Year and the
IRB Person of the Year going to Shane Griffiths.
Richard Metcalf won the Presidents Award and Lauren Funnell was named Cadet of the Year.
Ten-year National Patrol Service awards were handed out to Griffiths and Lisa Denahy.
And in an encouraging sign of commitment from the club's members, sixty-nine were recognised for 100 per cent patrol attendance across the season.
