PACIFIC Dunes Golf Club professional David Lulham and his trainee Lee Barton have secured their share of the junior sporting community, usually dominated by football codes, beach sports and cricket.
The pair launched this year's junior golf academy at Pacific Dunes Golf Club last month and the response was encouraging to say the least.
"We were a little bit overwhelmed in first week, we had around 20 RSVP's and 38 kids showed up," Lulham said.
The clinic-style program runs every Wednesday afternoon in six to 10 years and 11 to 14 years age groups at a cost of $7 per lesson.
The program focuses on techniques such as grip, basic swing, chipping, putting, iron play and on-course skills.
Much of the training is done on the driving range but Lulham said he was considering running junior competitions as players developed their skills and were introduced to the course.
