LUKE George asserts that "nothing important in this life comes easy" - and he should know.
The Tanilba Bay motocross rider endured a devastating crash at the end of a 130-foot jump in the final race of the Australian Motocross Championships in Coolum last August.
He was defending his 2008 pro-lites title at the time and had one rider to beat to make it consecutive national crowns.
But when he landed headfirst on the Queensland track it scuttled that dream.
George spent seven days in an induced coma and doctors predicted a three or four-year break from the sport.
"That was absolutely devastating because riding motorbikes is all I know," he said.
This Sunday, nine months after the accident, the 20 year old will continue his inspirational comeback in the fourth round of the Australian championships at Eagleton's MX Central motocross track.
George has already defied the odds to return from major head injuries in time for February's first round.
But he plans a whole-sale return to greatness with a surge for the championship in the remaining five rounds.
"In this sport you can be on top of the world one second and at the bottom the next," he said.
The 120-rider championship returns to the track near Raymond Terrace after being overlooked in 2009, which means the Port rider will vie for points on his home track.
Riders will be on track from 9am.
