Mallabula takes out local derby

25 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
THE battle for rugby league honours in Port Stephens was taken out by Mallabula after it downed Raymond Terrace 38-10 in a semi-final at Lakeside on Saturday.

The game was a close contest in the first half with the Panthers leading 18-6 at the break.

But on the resumption Mallabula was too strong and ran in four tries on the back of a dominant forward pack.

Best back went to centre Jessie Hughes while tough forward Jarrod Richardson scored two tries.

The Panthers will now play Woodberry at the Lakeside complex on Saturday in the major semi-final.
