ON SATURDAY the Raymond Terrace Lions Soccer side travelled to Newcastle University hopeful to collect points against its hosts.

But it was not to be as all three grades suffered losses. First grade went down 5-0 while reserves also suffered a 5-0 loss and thirds were defeated 4-0.

But Lion's president Steve Soars said the side would move on and concentrate on the final third of the season.

"If you judge the year wholly by the competition table then we are having a bad year, all clubs have good and bad periods, but it you look at what we are developing well I think we have the jump on some of our opponents," he said.

First grade coach Steve Grout said while the score line was flattering it did not not reflect the intensity of the game.

"The results are disappointing as for every step forward we take we seem to take two steps back," Grout said.

This weekend Raymond Terrace will play Cardiff City at King Park on Saturday, first grade kick off at 3pm.
