IT APPEARS high level competition is the way to get the best out of our Port swimmers.
Six of the nine Nelson Bay Amateur Swimming Club representatives who attended the Swimming NSW Country Regional Championships at Mingara last month posted personal best times in at least one event.
The club’s 17-year-old standout Kieran Corry was in the zone, snaring first place in the 50m backstroke, third in the 50m breaststroke and recording four personal best times.
Younger sister Taylor Corry made it a family affair, smashing her personal best time in the 200m individual medley by 16 seconds and finishing second in the 50m backstroke.
Ten-year-old Tegan Ison pushed herself to four personal bests in the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, while Carly Ison recorded a personal best in the 13-years 50m butterfly.
Lauren Funnell finished second in the 14-years 50m backstroke and 12-year-old Emma Cram 200m breaststroke.
