SHANE "Sevens" Evans wrote his own chapter in the 76-year history of Raymond Terrace Bowling Club on Sunday.
Evans became the only bowler to obtain the elusive grand slam title - a clean sweep of the club's singles, doubles, triples and fours championships.
The 28 year old from Tasmania said the achievement came as a surprise.
"I hadn't even think about it," he said.
"I have never even won a club singles title before.
"It is a very special thing considering the calibre of players at this club that have gone before me."
Evans began his 2009 crusade along side Ben Brown, Correy Parker and Lennon Scott, winning the club fours in March.
Then through a familiar partnership with Scott that he managed a pairs title.
But it was not until the singles championship in July that Evans really got his fellow clubmen chatting.
He overcame Terrace bowls coordinator and veteran of the green Clay Parker in a 31-23 landslide.
"I really didn't think I would win that one, not with the draw that I had.
"I probably had the hardest draw."
Evans then teamed up with Scott and Ian Lean to complete the grand slam last weekend.
"The most amazing thing is that he has never won a singles title after 15 years in the game, then he comes and does it at a premier league club," Parker said
The grand slam will take the attention away from a disappointing representative season for Evans who has been at the Raymond Terrace club since moving to the mainland in 2000.
