Lemon Tree bowlers take grade pennant

23 Jun, 2010 01:00 AM
THE Lemon Tree Passage Womens Bowls Club fourth grade pennants side officiated its district success with a flag unfurling at the Port club recently.

The team of Kath Rados, June Spinks, Annette Davis, Jan Blake, Alice Sharp, Jeanette McClure, Marj Shiels, and Beryl Pascoe, who played sub for Robyn Vidal, overcame their Hunter opponents to advance to the group D playoffs in May.

They did not advance beyond the group stage, but the Lemon Tree Passage team had already etched itself into the club's list of most-successful ensembles.

It was the first fourth-grade title for the club since 1987.

Lemon Tree Passage sealed the win in a three-way round robin against Karuah and Soldiers Point on April 16.
