Nelson Bay youngsters keen to play rugby

24 Feb, 2010 11:19 AM
THE 2010 rugby league season can not come soon enough for Nelson Bay Junior Rugby League Club devotees.

Some of them watched on in awe as their senior counterparts, the Northern Blues, took on the Newcastle Knights National Youth Competition under 20 team earlier this month and covered the ball boy duties with more than the necessary enthusiasm.

The Bay juniors took part in the Northern Blues trial as part of a push to rejuvenate interaction between the Bay's junior and senior teams.

Spots are still available for players and coaching staff across the junior club's range of teams from under 7 to under 18.

Players can register for the season ahead at the Nelson Bay JRLFC headquarters at Salamander Bay Sporting Complex every Tuesday afternoon up until the beginning of the season on April 17.

The club will have trial games for all its teams against Western Suburbs at Salamander Bay on March 14, against West Maitland on March 21 and with Raymond Terrace on March 28 in the lead up to season kick off.
