Sharks take the field

01 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
THE chance for Port Stephens newest sporting outfit to show its wares will be trialled tomorrow night. Two matches will be played at Tomaree Sportsground, with the Sharks to play a Newcastle under 20s side in a curtain raiser to a combined NSW cup/Knights fixture against a Newcastle rep team.

Former Nelson Bay junior rugby league members (pictured) will have the opportunity to showcase their talents, with the match expected to be used as a trial for selection into both Newcastle and Port Stephens teams.

The matches are a huge boon for the Port Stephens area, and are part of a work in progress aimed at securing the financial support needed to get the Sharks back into top flight competition. Gates will open at 4.30 pm with entry fee $5 adults, $3 pensioners and students and children under 16 are free. Kick off is from 5.30pm.
