YEARS of hard work and dedication have paid off for a Raymond Terrace league player after he was selected into a Newcastle Knights Squad.
Tyrone Dodd, 17, was picked into the Newcastle Knights under 18 SG Ball Summer Squad after a day of selection trials of Lyall Peacock Field last month.
Tyrone said he felt like he played well at the trial and he was confident he would make it in the side but was still nervous when he opened the letter informing him of his success.
"My aunt brought the letter into me when it came in the post," he said.
"Everything was going through my mind.
"When I read I was accepted I thought 'Oh my God, this is massive'."
The Irrawang High student starts year 12 at the beginning of the next school term and while he was excited about his acceptance he said it was going to be hard to juggle all of his responsibilities.
Tyrone played most of his junior years at Raymond Terrace but started to play for South Newcastle in this year's competition to gain more first grade experience.
