JORDAN McFadyen got a small taste of the international stage this month and did not waste it.
The Raymond Terrace 13 year old went undefeated through the Foundation Cup at this year's Sydney International tennis tournament, proving he was well worth his spot in the victorious NSW Country side.
Names like Baghdatis, Hewitt and Williams were being bandied about in the seniors arm of theAustralian Open warm-up tournament.
But at the same time an equally-intense battle raged in the under 13 Foundation Cup between NSW Country, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
Jordan played singles and doubles with Grafton's Jack Chard against each interstate opponent before setting up a final against Victoria.
After accounting for his singles opponent 6-3, 6-1, Jordan and Chard sealed the deal with an 8-3 win in the doubles.
"He has been playing tennis for about eight years and he just loves it," Jordan's mum Sue said.
The most recent of those years have been spent in Greg Brownlow's Raymond Terrace based Future Stars Academy.
Sue said Jordan could not be happier devoting his spare time to tennis, training four times a week with the academy and having a further private lesson each week.
