CORLETTE teenager Libby Sharpe has already reached the pinnacle of female football and she is yet to celebrate her 18th birthday.
Libby was recently selected as part of the W-League Newcastle Jets and said to be part of the side was a dream come true.
"It's awesome, it is what I dreamt of as little girl to play professional football," she said.
Libby started her career with Nelson Bay Junior Soccer Club at the age of five and at 17 years of age she has already clocked up 12 years of on-field experience.
The side has so far played three games and Libby said the team, although young, had gelled well.
"We've learnt a lot already and there are other players my age but it's good because we are all going along together," she said.
At the age of 10 Libby represented NSW and in 2007 played in the under 17s Australian side.
As HSC time arrives Libby said her latest challenge was juggling the pressures of study with her sport.
"I am taking the HSC this week and it has been difficult at times but the coach is very considerate with training."
Looking to the future, Libby said while she was thrilled to be playing at the sport's highest level, there was one more goal she planned to achieve.
"I would love to play professionally for Australia, that would be a childhood dream come true," she said.
