Soldiers Point, in the park adjacent to Salamander Shores, will be the venue for registrations from 6am for a 7am start.

Included will be a 500 metre swim, 22km bike and 6km run.

There will also be a short course triathlon, barbecue, raffle and splash for cash.

Dave Swan, who lost his battle with cancer in 2010, was one of the clubs first Ironman legends and completed more than 10 Ironman races.

Regarded as a quiet achiever, Tomaree Triathlon Club's Graeme Chamberlain said Swan was always one of the first to support others, or put his hand up to help out.

Since his death, the race has been known as the Dave Swan Memorial Race and proceeds will go toward cancer awareness and funds for research.

After the triathlon the club will conduct a splash for cash with half the proceeds going to cancer research and half going to the winner.

Members of the community are encouraged to take part with the price of entry $10.00.

Registrations are from 8.30am for a 9am start and the course will include a 300 metre swim, 100 metre leg, with participants required to nominate a time they will complete the course in.

Last years winner, Ted Anderson, donated his prize money to cancer research.
