MacKa will not sue

THE plot surrounding the Stockton Bight Land acquisition case thickened this week after councillor Bruce MacKenzie told the Examiner he would not take any legal action against Port Stephens Council for the beleaguered battle.

But hours after he made the revelation to the Examiner another councillor, Frank Ward received a phone call from a person he believes was posing as a journalist in a bid to ascertain privileged information from Cr Ward.

The return phone number left by the person was one associated with Macka’s Sand, which is widely available on the internet, however the Examiner is in no way insinuating that Cr MacKenzie or any of his associates made the phone call to Cr Ward.

When contacted by the Examiner Cr MacKenzie was shocked to hear that a number associated with the company had been left by a person posing as a journalist and he strongly denied that anyone from MacKa’s Sand made the phone call.

The incident follows last week’s move by Port Stephens Council to apply to the minister for local government to have the Towers’
