Magpies old boys fly again

RAYMOND Terrace Magpies will square-off with Dungog in a battle of the old boys at Lakeside Oval on Saturday.

Both sides will dust off the boots in a match to be played between the sides former stars as both clubs look to celebrate Old Boys Day.

Relatives of present players linked to the club will play against and alongside one another in the match that will start prior to the 3pm kick-off between the Magpies and Dora Creek.

The old boys will take a much needed rest during the first half of the main game then finish off during half time.

Magpies clubman Paul Lidbury said last year's old boys game finished in a draw, but suspected that the match was officiated with a high degree of leniency.

"I think some of the boys rigged that one," he said.

Meanwhile, the main match to be played between Raymond Terrace and Dora Creek should set tongues wagging with both sides perched at the pointy end of the ladder.

Lidbury said all players are invited back to Lakeside Tavern for a post-match old boys celebration.
