Eager Ethan is about to join his two brothers and sister at Tea Gardens Public School.
"It's a brilliant school, we've been more than happy with it," Ethan's mum Mirian Avery said.
Kindergarten children will filter into school life at Tea Gardens in staged groups next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for the Best Start Assessment.
Tea Gardens Public School principal Mark Clemson said the program would test the students' literacy and numeracy levels before school starts on the following Monday.
"It means we know exactly where they're at so we can start them in the best way possible," he said.
Pupil numbers have increased this year, with 37 students already enrolled to start. This means there will be a kindergarten and kindergarten/year one composite class.
"It's a little bit larger than last year and we may get more enrolments throughout the year too," Mr Clemson said.
The new students will be taught by Carol Andrews and Debbie Booth.
