Secretary of the Pindimar Tea Gardens RFB, Helmut Panhuber, said he understood why some residents could be concerned, particularly in Pindimar and Hawks Nest.
"People are concerned that there's so much bush around that hasn't had any hazard reduction but a lot of factors need to come together for safe prescribed burns to get the go-ahead," he said.
The hot and dry conditions have led to the cancellation of all permits and hazard reductions since late last year.
"This will only be lifted if we get some decent rain," he said.
"Then we will need enough volunteers make up enough crews, the land to be dry enough, a low enough temperature, high enough humidity and a forecast for more of the same, not to mention the permission of the landholders."
He said the brigade thought South Pindimar, the bush behind the caravan park at Jimmys Beach and the bush opposite Myall Pharmacy at Hawks Nest leading down to the golf course needed hazard reduction.
The fire service welcomes volunteers and anyone interested can contact Mr Panhuber at helmutpanhuber@optusnet.com.au or on 0413 720 063.
