All agree that leaving their hometown to pursue studies in their chosen career paths will be equal parts daunting and exciting.
Grace Newton will be starting a new life in Coffs Harbour to study a Bachelor of Nursing at Southern Cross University.
"I've got family up there which is good, and I will be living on campus," she said.
She is then hoping to move into midwifery.
Sofie Dorney will be leaving home to live in Armidale and study a Bachelor of Primary Education.
"I've always wanted to do primary teaching," she said.
"This was the best possible course for me."
Lauren Shultz will be staying in the Hunter to study a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science on the University of Newcastle's Ourimbah campus.
"I've always wanted to work in health and I may try and change over to physio later on," she said.
She is planning to move to Newcastle to cut down on travel time.
The girls said almost half their year of 60 students from Bulahdelah Central School were heading to university.
They said it was time to branch out but Bulahdelah would always be home.
