RECENTLY my husband and I parked in the council car park at Nelson Bay harbour to experience a whale watching cruise.
We were surprised to discover that the machine not only charged an exhorbitant fee of $2.40 per hour, but no credit card facilites were available, so we were requird to hunt around for enough coins for the machine - four hours being $9.60.
We were also shocked to find that no change was given, so the council make extra money.
How much extra money does the council make from the extra change?
There were no notices to advise the public of this.
This would seem to be a scam and probably illegal.
