THE two croquet courts are being well used, with the usual attendance high on Mondays, but Wednesday and Saturdays are also popular.
Games captain Sue Dodds and Helen McKay represented our club at the Toronto Doubles Gala Day on February 7, winning all their games on the day. Congratulations Helen and Sue.
During the past few weeks Ron Winters, assistant games captain Lucy Casey, Geoff Latona, Dawn Dale, Bernice Beattie and Maz Jeacle have all played with enthusiasm. We welcome back Julia and Alan Darch to the croquet courts.
Last Monday at our quarterly meeting lasting for 45 minutes, we played four games, filling up the two courts with 22 players.
Eight mallets have been donated to the club by Alix Verge for the use of visitors or beginners.
Alix has a holiday home in Hawks Nest and plays her croquet at Royal Sydney Golf Club Croquet Club. Alix won the Women's 2009 Singles World Championship in golf croquet, although she has now taken up association.
All the mallets have been used by Alix and we thank her for her generous donation.
Keep on croqueting and having fun.
If you wish to have a game of croquet or have any questions about the game, please contact our club secretary Kath Winterbottom on 4997 0064.
