Prominent Melbourne sculptor, Dave Farrell, stopped in Bulahdelah when he decided to stay on for two weeks and carve a life-sized tiger sculpture for the Mount View Hotel.
"I've always stopped here," he said. "I love the mountain range."
Mr Farrell sculpts for museums, operas, the theatre and for movie sets including The Man From Snowy River and Lord of the Rings.
The three-metre-long tiger is made from treated pine and carved largely by hand.
"I spoke with the owners and this work just evolved," Mr Farrell said.
Owner of the hotel Patrick Bramston said the tiger would be placed in the hotel's garden and would be visible for passers-by on Bulahdelah Way.
"We want people to be able to enjoy it."
He said people were welcome to pop by and have a sit on the tiger.
"There's a new big icon in town," he said.
"Maybe someone else will come to Bulahdelah and sculpt another big thing."
