The Bulahdelah Hill Climb, organised and hosted by the Myall Lakes Motorsports Club, has been held annually since 2001.
Last year the club had to cancel its March event due to a lack of entrants. However, club secretary and race director Ross Jones anticipated next month's climb would be "super duper".
The event is part of a three-race tournament called the Nulon Nationals.
In this year's climb, round one of the Nulon Nationals, drivers will complete a 1.15-kilometre track up Bulahdelah Mountain as fast as they can.
"If everything goes off all right it will become an annual event," Jones said.
"The hill climb is the first round. In a couple of months there will be another one at Wakefield, then Cootamundra."
About 45 drivers in a wide variety of fast cars are expected in Bulahdelah for race day.
Competing drivers can race in any car they choose and test their ability and the performance of their car against their personal best times.
"They race against the clock," Jones said.
Spectators are welcome, but spots are limited.
To get to the event, beginning at 10am, spectators turn off the Pacific Highway onto Wootton Way until they reach a road block.
Gates open at 9am.
From there spectators can walk or catch a shuttle bus to the finish line.
The cost is $5 per person. Children under 16 are free.
Jones said the club was still searching for marshals to help the crowd enjoy the event.
Volunteer crowd marshals are asked to phone Jones on 4997 2299.
■ Residents are advised that Wootton Way, Bulahdelah, will be closed for the motorsport event between 6am and 10pm on Saturday, April 6.
