Last month Tea Gardens boat crews travelled to Ocean Beach, at Umina, to compete against the best rowers the state could throw at them.
Steven Howell said that despite the fact that the men's 220s team had only formed a few months before the titles it still managed to claim sixth position in the state finals out of 18 boat crews.
"It was a mammoth achievement," Howell said.
"They only started training a few months ago as a team."
The Tea Gardens reserve boat crew also competed on the Friday but narrowly missed the semi-finals, with one point keeping them from advancing to the the next level. They raced twice and came in third and fourth place.
"There were 80-something crews in that division so they went well," Howell said.
The women's crew entered the masters division for the first time in the club's history.
While they did not make it to the semi-finals Howell said they went "very well", especially considering they formed just six weeks before the event.
"I'm expecting some big things from those ladies next year," he said.
