Registrations are now closed and the association will hold its open day on Saturday at the Raymond Terrace netball courts, on the corner of William-Bailey and Port Stephens streets, to kick off the first games of the season.
"Registrations for this winter comp are about 550, but that's expected to go up," club president Michelle Archer said.
She said every year the association attracted at least 30 new players.
This year has 69 teams made up of seven to 10 players from Raymond Terrace, to Dungog, Seaham and Maitland and other areas.
Nelson Bay has its own competition.
"It's good to see new players; last year there were 64 teams," Archer said.
As well as the association's own competition, its representative teams have started training for the State Championships with the junior teams to compete in July and the seniors in June.
The Port Stephens Netball Association has also been picked to host 28 regional teams for the Hunter region competition finals later in the year.
