SHE has five children, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and it was the birth of another baby boy last month that made Kathleen Newton a grandparent for the 60th time.

The 87-year-old Fingal Bay resident is the eldest of five living generations and first became a grandparent at the age of 38.
"I didn't know it was going to start an avalanche," Mrs Newton said.
"In three years I will be 90 so God knows what they [family] will come up with by then."
Mrs Newton said she had all 60 grandchildren's names and birthdays committed to memory.
"I go through them out loud once a month so I know I'm not getting Alzheimer's."
She has lived in Port Stephens for 29 years though most of her family are spread out across NSW.
Last March the whole family got together but the regular means of communication is via Skype, Mrs Newton said.
"I have to keep my computer on all day, everyday, because there is always someone saying 'Hi Nan'.
"I have a wonderful family."
